Herpes labialis, commonly known as commonly referred to a cold sore, is a highly contagious viral infection caused by the herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). This unfortunate condition presents itself as painful, fluid-filled blisters around the mouth. While commonly harmless, these sores can be irritating and sometimes result in social shame. A
